Exam Success

Thursday August 19th saw some considerable success for Latham's Sixth Formers as the results from this year's AS and A2 modules were published. The achievements of Robert Keep took pride of place as he secured three A* and two A grades in his five A-Levels. No pupil in the entire school could better these results and we wish him every success as he embarks upon a GAP year at Repton Dubai before applying to Cambridge. Other notable successes were Richard Duggleby's three A grades, sufficient to secure his place at Leicester Medical School, Josh Moore's A* in PE, which helped him fulfil his offer for the prestigious Business Management course at Northumbria University, and Charlie Pass's A* in Business Studies which enabled him to take his place on the Drama course at Birmingham University. Overall, the U6th scored just under 80% A*-B grades, once again maintaining Latham's reputation for academic excellence. Not to be outdone, the L6th achieved even better scores in their AS modules with a remarkable two-thirds of their grades being either A* or A, and 82% A*-B! Both Gregory Flavell and Gautham Shiralagi scored A*AAA, securing A*s in A-Level Maths despite only completing one year of Sixth Form study. Other successes were enjoyed by Mark Harrison and Chris Swann who both scored AAAA, and Ben Hardwick and John Hignett who both secured AAAB. Having achieved so much success in the world of sport, music and drama in 2009/2010, these results prove that Lathamites don't just play hard, they work hard too!
