Erica runs like the wind!

When I asked B Block who could run just before the Steeplechase there was a murmur of "not me" and that seemed to bring lunch-time conversation to an abrupt end, so as usual I was not expecting much on Thursday as we competed in the Steeplechase. The only glory we had had in the last few years was Joie Leigh winning in style by a large margin last year.Unfortunately she could not run this year because of Hockey commitments so we had little chance in the Senior race. In fact we only had 8 runners after illness and taking out the 1st X1 players who are training for the Nationals this Sunday. (Good Luck girls!).

So imagine my pride when I see Erica Sanders pelting through the gate in hot pursuit of Georgie Whitehouse. She missed 1st place in the juniors by 1 second, (20 m 50) but still took the First B Block trophy for Garden. Caitlin Furniss came 8th in 22 minutes 55, closely followed by Camilla Chantler and Hannah Ewins. Best O Blocker was older sister Meg Ewins and best A Blocker Ellie Rylands. Magnificent effort by our B Block who helped us place second. No longer last in the Steeplechase. Hurray!!

Well done also to Dani Croson, placing 13th in the tough Senior Girls Race of nearly 5 miles!
