On Friday, 10 A-block pupils, along with Mr Dan Clark and Ms Gemma Hill, left Repton for a two-week exchange with our partner school in Dubai. After a competitive selection programme and months of organising and learning about the culture of Dubai, the group arrived on Saturday morning and immediately set about integrating themselves to their new Houses and new school.
The exchange is part of Repton's wider project of building meaningful and long-lasting links with our partner school. Repton pupils on the exchage will become full pupils of the new school - wearing the same uniform, taking part in the same lessons and competing in the same sports as their Emirati partners. Even in the first couple of days, girls have played rounders and netball for Repton Dubai and the boys have been training with the Elite Sports Academy, headed up by sports stars Martin Saggers, Carlton Palmer and Apollo Perelini. There are also plans for the Repton UK group to produce an act for the local version of the Cabaret which takes place in the second week.
In addition to the academics, the group will have a chance in the second week of the exchange to see some of the famous sites around the Dubai, including the world's tallest building the Burj Khalifa and trips to Hatta rock pools.
The group are running a daily blog on their trip, which you can follow by clicking here.
