Cricketers Benefit from National Exposure

Four lucky Repton cricketers were invited to the ECB National Cricket Performance Centre at Loughborough last week as part of the sport’s governing body’s skill-testing and assessment programme.

The nationwide study sees groups of talented batsmen put through their paces across a series of tests designed to measure the player’s all-round skill levels. The sample is comprised of schoolboys, undergraduates and young contracted professionals on University Centre of Excellence rosters.

After a hugely enjoyable first visit the boys return to the facility regarded by many as the best in the world for a second and final session later this week. Not only is this a great opportunity to use this venue, which is the base for the England senior squad, but also serves as superb preparation for the up and coming cricket season. Both Eddy Ikin and Sam Graham (this year’s Captain of Cricket) scored over 540 runs for the 1st XI last year and both Matt Fletcher and Matt Goodacre will begin their first seasons in Repton 1st XI, and are part of the Academy at Derbyshire CCC.

The 1st XI enjoyed a very successful 2010, winning 12 of the 15 limited overs games that they played.
