Our Chapel Choir sang Evensong at Southwell Minster in the last week of September. Too numerous to fit into the ancient choir stalls, the choir filled the whole area beneath the great screen, requiring the congregation to move up towards the east end. Following their recent trip to Lichfield cathedral, the choir is increasingly used to performing in some of the most beautiful churches and cathedrals in the UK.
This was one of the largest visiting choirs Southwell Minster has had in recent years. Directed by John Bowley, and with organist James Drinkwater, it was a privilege to perform in such a beautiful building, with such a rewarding acoustic.
