Champion Swimmers take House Cup!

Champion Swimmers take House Cup!

The House Swimming started off worryingly as Meg Byas from Field won the first race convincingly, but when Meg Ewins won the 50 Metre Breaststroke, closely followed by Hannah in the Junior Breaststroke, things were starting to look up. Louise Mallinder won the 50 Metre Backstroke and Joie Leigh took both Freestyle races in her usual inimitable style. The surprise of the day was the win by Caitlin Furniss who left all the competition behind in the 100 Metre freestyle. Garden came to the fore in the relays, which is where our real strength lies - team work! We won all but one of the 6 relay races. We must pay tribute to our amazing team of swimmers, most of whom compete for the school as well and deserve recognition for their grit and determination as well as their technique! Both Charlie Perkins and Erica Sanders swam with cramp and would not let anyone else replace them even when they were in obvious pain. Beth Drew and Joie Leigh did a fantastic job of organising and motivating their team members. We were lucky Jade was able to swim after a nasty knock to her elbow playing hockey. So thanks go to Cath McGrath, Dani Croson, Caitlin Chadwick,  Pip Sanders, Zoe Furness, Claire Stoll, Alicia Stevens, Millie Wright, Camilla Chantler and Chloe Irlam as the remaining members who all contributed to our win by their brilliant efforts in the indivdual races as well as winning the relays.

Well Done to all of you. The whole house is very proud!!
