The Royal Wedding was never going to be a normal school day at Repton. The girls were already buzzing at breakfast and front row seats were being bagged nearest the big screens. There was a choice of three.. upstairs were the 6th form all wearing corgi and royal family masks home-made in the art department, sobbing quietly as they all wished they were Kate, middle common room all snuggled up together watching in awe, or downstairs where we had a running commentary from Jess Hobday, who, by the way, has now bagged Harry for herself! We sang along badly but raucously to the hymns and picked out the worst hats and cutest guys (O Block again - watch out Middleton brother!).

The bell went and the girls charged down to lunch at the Arch. The sun shone through the clouds and a wonderful time was had by all. Not least because of the live music provided by Messrs Mylward, Bournon, Hodgkinson and Fairbrother. The girls hurtled back to see the kiss on the balcony, but the best was yet to come... The Fireworks later that evening on the Paddock were breathtaking and appreciated by each and every member of the school. Being the Garden though we had to party, so the 6th form had champers and strawbs with the Mitchells, Miss Mackenzie and Mr Cooke on Private Side before being joined by the rest of the house ("are you sure that's a good idea?" quote Mr Mitchell).

They all then munched on strawberries and hocolate fondue and had a bop (which the girls still think is a funny word!). B Blockers were the last left on the dance floor but finally there was peace and quiet with the slow rhythm of happy snoring of Garden girls as they dreamt about being the next Princess.....
