Repton School

Business Studies

Repton’s Business Studies department is housed in its own building on Boot Hill in the village. Originally just the Economics department, Business Studies was introduced in the late 1990s and has become a popular course at GCSE and A level. Indeed, business-related courses are the single most popular choices for Reptonians when they look for higher education.

The department has 5 good-sized and well-equipped teaching rooms, a seminar room/library and a small office. We currently have around 35 students per year studying the A level course and approximately 40 students per year studying at GCSE.

Business Studies is offered at GCSE level with the OCR exam board and at AS and A2 with AQA. The main method of assessment is through case study work where students are expected to apply their subject knowledge to a range of business situations. This is supplemented, where possible, by visits to local businesses to help apply the theory.
