Date: Saturday 6th March
Venue: Home
Team: Jopson, Variava (c), Hugill, Martin, Hyde-Barker, Chandler, Winfield, Cole, Carlile, Jones, Prutton. Subs: Leese, Barlow, Sunner
Result: W 7-2
Match Report:
Don't be fooled by the scoreline: this was not a good game of hockey.
Worksop were characteristically "physical" (and in a few cases a little too "verbal"), but apart from occasional breaks made very little impact against our defence: Hugill and Variava were fairly solid at the back and made few errors.
Going forward, we had lots of possession, although too many players were selfish with the ball, and would have been punished by a better opposition. Our fifth goal was the only real highlight of the match - a series of slick passes to carve up the defence and a sweet strike for the goal - although credit should be given to Fergus Prutton for scoring 5.
