Match Report:
The U16B are keen to finish the season strong, and with a flurry of goals. That showed in the approach they took to the game as Repton passed the ball around and moved the ball on quickly and at speed. Prutton on the wing played well and linked up well with Chandler in the attempt to move the ball wide and high. This worked extremely well and led to the opening goal with Carlile perfectly positioned at the back post to guide the ball home.
As our confidence grew, unfortunately so did our desire to over dribble and try skills that weren’t necessary. This gave possession back to Oakham in dangerous positions several times. Law of averages says, give them the ball enough times close to our D and we will concede, and that’s exactly what happened. Although Edwards diving save from Oak ham’s initial attempt was outstanding, however it unfortunately fell to an attacking player at the near post. 1-1.
In the second half Repton went back to passing the ball around and played with good height. This led to our second goal, where Prutton struck the ball with power into the bottom corner. Winfield and Chandler all had great chances to put the game further from Oakhams grasp but the Oakham Keeper stood tall to keep Repton within arms reach. Oakham drew back level with a goal mouth scramble which saw multiple deflections only to end in the back of our goal.
Overall the boys played well and adapted to the conditions well. Full Time 2-2.
