Boys' U16 v Shrewsbury

Team: Findlay, Hugill, Prutton, Croson, Barlow, Jones, Jones, Martin, Teal, Shaw, Green, Welch

Result: Shrewsbury 197-7, Repton 103 Lost by 3 wickets.

Match Report: We began very brightly. Green helped to generate an excellent spirit in the field and Prutton and Jones bowled effectively. Shrewsbury played some loose shots and we held our catches to have them 22-4 after 8 overs. We were, unfortunately,  unable to maintain the quality of bowling required and allowed their middle order to play themselves in. Opportunities that were snapped up early on were now squandered and Shrewsbury reached a respectable total. Repton's diminutive higher order succumbed to the pressure exerted by the home side and we collapsed to 21-5, contributing to our failure with the dismissal by run-out of both Findlay and Welch. Jones, Teal and Martin offered  heart and application but we were unable to threaten the Shrewsbury total.
