Match Report: Against a very strong Derbyshire U15 side Repton U16 began their season with a heavy defeat but the game was not without its positives. The visitors made 191-4 in their allotted 35 overs but after a rather slow start in the field Repton improved considerably in the second half of the innings and there were encouraging bowling performances from Cotter (2-29) and Lacey (1-29).

The Repton innings foundered from the start against some seriously hostile pace bowling and Wheatcroft of DCB U15 was probably the quickest bowler most of the school batsmen had ever encountered. Nonetheless there was eventually some courageous batting from a number of the boys and though a final total of 86-8 was clearly way short it represented something of a spirited effort. Eldred, the captain, top scored with 20 but he, Hugill (14) and Prutton (15) failed to capitalise after 'getting in'.
