Match Report: A comfortable 8-0 win against Highfields, in the first game of the day, ensured that Repton were able to approach the much more challenging Ecclesbourne and Trent matches fresh and full of energy. The Ecclesbourne match was always likely to be a difficult one. Repton applied themselves superbly and were 0-0 at half time. Sadly, Ecclesbourne scored and this deflated the team. A flurry of goals followed and the match ended 5-0. The Trent match was quite the opposite, in that Repton started very poorly and allowed their opponents to score 4 goals in the first half. However, a much tighter defensive performance in the second half meant that the game ended 5-0.
Although disappointing to have lost to Ecclesbourne and Trent, they are two very good sides and I have no doubt, at all, that this team is making excellent progress and producing better performances over time. Individually, there were reasons to be really encouraged. Dom Chaffey played superbly in all three matches and showed that he is able to 'mix it' with representative hokcey players. Cam Winfield played as well as ever, whilst Andrew Findlay really raised the quality of his play against Trent. Our B Block goalkeeper, Lee, produced a series of stunning saves through the day. Overall, this was a very positive experience and these players should feel pleased with their efforts.
