Match Report:

Repton lost the toss and were put into bat, and started off to a flyer with Hewitt hitting his first 3 balls for 4. Moss and Hewitt looked in good shape until a mix up in communication had Hewitt stranded in the middle of the pitch and run out through a direct hit. Repton’s run rate continued to increase with Lane dispatching the ball to all parts of the ground which includes his first ever six.

After 10 over’s Repton were on 78 and were looking at posting a very competitive score, but the run rate steadily decreased as wickets tumbled. As Repton’s middle order collapsed, Lane was running out of batting partners and in an attempt to push the score along missed a straight one and was bowled on 44. One last push from Repton’s Number 9 – Robinson and 11 – Coupland Smith, had Repton score 30 in the last 3 overs and post a good total of 161 for 9.

Following Recent efforts in the nets, we were confident that we would could match Uppingham’s bowling and take all 10 wickets. Uppingham’s batting line up turned out to be very strong with their opening batsman scoring a very quick fire 56 in very few over’s. A fantastic catch by Boulton dismissed the opening batsman but unfortunately he had already done the damage on chasing down our total. The Uppingham Batsman continued to come at us even though the bowling was well disciplined and tidy, and knocked our total off in the 23rd over.

A couple more wickets could have seen a more interesting finish to the game; however Repton held their heads high knowing that no other school against Uppingham this year has managed to bat all of their allotted over’s and take more than 3 wickets against a strong batting line up.
