Result:
Rugby 113 All Out (A. Martin 5-12)
Repton 103 All Out
Match Report:
A very competitive game between two sides that saw hat-rick ball opportunities for both sides, catches, run out opportunities and a full twenty wickets in the day.
Repton won the toss and put Rugby into bat and it didn’t take long for Redfern and Martin to take charge. Between the two they reduced Rugby to 4 runs for 4 wickets after 2 overs, with Martin taking the 3 of his 5 for the day in his first over. Repton continued to press and fielded excellently in their attempt not to let rugby recover from Repton’s promising start however, even though wickets continued to fall at regular intervals, the score continued to increase as Repton’s discipline with the ball dropped and the extras column in the book began to look congested with numbers.
Repton continued to work their way through the overs, and in the final over bowled Rugby out for 113, with Lane and Davis getting amongst the wicket takers. Martin was the pick of the bowlers finishing with 5.3 Overs, 2 Maidens, 12 Runs for 5 Wickets.
Repton in pursuit fell short by 10 runs, however it must be mentioned that Lane played a captains innings holding the ship steady as Rugby started to take control of the game taking Repton wickets with regular occurrence. Unfortunately Lane finishing 28 not out just ran out of partners in his pursuit of the Rugby total.
A good performance by Repton who could have won the game had the bowling extras not made the task that little harder to achieve.
