Match Report:
Not the best end to a season. We were missing a couple of key players - and went down to a bare XI when Goodhead went off with a sore hand. Dean Close had a couple of excellent players, and we were lucky to be only 2-0 down at half time.
Ironically, we played a lot better in the second half, Andy Martin moving to left-back to keep their brilliant winger quiet, and Connor Matthews shoring up the centre of defence, but as we pressed forward in our attempts to score, they hit us on the counter-attack.
Charlie Turner had 2 good efforts, and the unthinkable nearly happened when Alex Harold stabbed the ball goalwards at the far post, only for their 'keeper to make a spectacular backwards dive to claw it off the line.
I would like to thank the boys for what has been a very enjoyable season, if a little mixed in terms of results, and wish them well for the remainder of their hockey careers.
