Match Report:
After such an incredibly tense tie against Rugby and a wash-out it the Lord's Taverners against Woodhouse Grove, the Under 15s kick-started their season with a comprehensive victory against Wellingborough. On a soft, green wicket on Hall Close, Repton won the toss and decided to bat first. Fraser Waters went early for a duck and after 6 overs the score was 8 for 1. However, the decision to bat was fully justified as Kieran Fenton (44) launched into the change bowlers depositing a series of huge sixes over the leg-side boundary. After he was out, the birthday-boy, Luke Cosford, continued the assault, amassing 71 runs in very quick time. The whole innings, however, was underpinned by the resolute James Gough; his 38 runs were the glue which kept the Repton effort together, and a cameo from Max Pywell (22*) in the final overs ensured a huge total of 208. The Repton bowlers had clearly learned the lessons from Tuesday and wickets tumbled at regular intervals. Man-of-the-Match, Luke Cosford, took 2 for 8, and Gough 2 for 13. The prodigious off-spin of Connor Matthews ensured a return of 3 for 20, and Liam Kavanagh finished of the innings with his first wicket of the season. A very pleasing day's work. JELD
