Boys' U15A v Trent

Boys' U15A v Trent

Date: Saturday 26th June

Venue: Home

Team: Gough, Pywell, Cosford, Goodhead, Bacon, Hughes, Congiu, Kavanagh, Matthews, Fox-Davies, Martin

Result: Repton 164 for 6 (35 overs); Trent 84 all out (21.2 overs) : Repton win by 80 runs

Match Report: This was a terrific performance. In the absence of Fenton, who had been promoted to the XI, all the batsmen rose to the challenge and posted a very competitive score. Pywell (18) and Gough (57) put on 69 for the first wicket, before Cosford (51) came to the crease. Cameos from Goodhead and Bacon towards the end saw Repton up to 164 for 6. Things started brilliantly in the field with Cosford having Trent's best batsman caught behind in the fifth over before Martin bowled the other opener. Trent were 22 for 2 after seven overs. It did not take too long for the spinners to be brought on, and the remaining 8 wickets fell to Matthews (5 for 27) and Hughes (3 for 21), as the opposition struggled to come to terms with their flight and guile. This was a tremendous performance against a useful side and the boys can take a lot of confidence into their Twenty20 Midlands semi-final on Monday against Shrewsbury. JELD
