Result: W4-2
Match Report:
Repton 4-2 Solihull
Congiu (PC), Moss (PC), Smith (F), Buckland (F)
This game was tight and combative with the small water based pitch putting pressure on our skills which is certainly what this team needs.
Solihull played with good tempo although we started well, with Congiu sliding the ball in to the bottom right of the goal from a penalty corner. Solihull equalised from a well flicked corner some minutes later and the game went to the break at 1-1, although George Moss hit the post after one of Repton best moves of the game just before the interval.
The fifteen minutes that followed lacked composure and Repton were too eager to dribble and go forward, where a sideways pass or sending the ball around the back would have been a much better option. When we finally managed this, we forced a corner, from which George Moss scored form the rebound. Solihull equalised with 6 minutes left, before another well executed piece of build up play allowed Repton into the circle and Alex Smith to score from a rebound. A fine move late in the game gave Dan Buckland an opportunity to fire home from the top of the circle and leave us the happier of the sides.
A good test for the boys today, ahead of three games in the next 7 days. We finished strongly today, which was a great way to complete the game as Solihull would have been good value for the draw.
