Match Report:

On a beautiful afternoon the Junior tennis team travelled to Shrewsbury for an important fixture in our calendar. The team played with purpose and a real sense of urgency (was this because of England’s World Cup opener against USA later that day?) and ran out comfortable winners 6 – 3.
The number one pair of Buckland and Wrinch hit it well all afternoon and combined well at the net to pick off weaker opposition. Although they lost their final set they played some of the best tennis of the match which was appreciated by both the Shrewsbury and Repton parents alike. Neville and Sentance once again played well together as a team on some slow and high bouncing courts. However, a lack of consistency meant they were a little unlucky to lose out in more than one set but they dug in and finished very strongly winning their final set 6 – 1 – consistency is key! Howle and Lloyd by their own analysis were ‘on fire’ playing solid tennis with few unforced errors and were able to win their matches comfortably. Their final rubber against the opposite pair saw them play some of their best tennis as they ran out 6-3, 6-4 winners.
Overall then it was a superb afternoon’s tennis ( 4 hours in fact!!) which was appreciated by all the spectators – now it’s back to watch England!!
