Match Report:
Repton’s Junior XVs' first match against Chellaston was one which was challenging due to Chellaston's high standards in rugby. The Chellaston team contained a number of county and academy players. Repton’s Captain Max Pywell won the toss and chose to kick off. From this Repton hoped to get the game started with an early try, Repton fought hard towards a try. The Chellaston side continued to seize on Repton’s mistakes up until half time. Losing 17-nil at half time, the Repton team ran back onto the pitch with high hopes for the second half. During the second half Repton slowed the Chellaston try rate and increased the quality of play. One of the major improvements was the communication throughout the team and the hard tackles that went in from players such as Max Pywell, Tom Bacon and Ned Morris. Overall Repton fought long, right until the end and although the score was starting to overcome the Repton boys the players held on to their dignity and showed honesty with players such as George Cohen.
Overall it was a very promising start to the season for the Repton boys with the amount of courage and determination shown.
Final score Chellaston 32-0.
