Match Report:

The last game of the season had the boys motivated and keen to improve from their previous encounter earlier in the term, when Repton came out on top in a 1-0 win. However, football is a funny old game and that was not to be today.

Repton started off strongly, passing the ball confidently and with intent off making the first impression on the score line. Wilcock, Readman, Morris and Dykstra linked well and at times found it easy to move the ball through the Shrewsbury Mid-field, however the final ball or touch just wasn’t in Repton’s Favour.

In defence of the boys, they were unlucky to fall behind as Shrewsbury struck first with a move that could have been argued to be offside, however play continued and a clinical finish put Repton on the back foot. Shrewsbury then continued to press and moved the ball around confidently and freely, allowing them to find space and create chances with regular occurrence. Wilcock and Etherington put in solid performances for Repton and repeatedly thwarted many of the Shrewsbury attacks, but it was not to be our day.

Repton continued to press into the dying minutes and looked certain to score a late consolation goal, as Bloor, Leung and Readman moved the ball swiftly and elegantly, only to find Shrewsbury’s last man produce an excellent tackle to foil our attack.

Final Score: Shrewsbury 6 – Repton 0
