Result: Repton 1-6 Twycross

Match Report:
Repton produced a performance that should be commended for its spirit and effort. They did not once give up on the game, even after suffering a early setback due to two wind assisted goals which otherwise would have surely been comfortably dealt with by our two solid centre halves, Cartlidge and Shires. As the game progressed Twycross were had the better of the midfield battles and began to grow in confidence, moving the ball around at ease. Some fantastic goalkeeping by Lee kept Twycross pegged back at just 2-0 until, eventually a catalogue of errors allowed soft third and fourth goals.

However, the lads went into the second half with the intention of trying to pass the ball more and use the width. Reynolds was introduced on to the right wing and made some first class passes, only for Twycross defence to thwart Clarke and Bell on a number of occasions. Repton showed great composure in the second half and proceeded to chip away at the confidence that Twycross had built from the first half, with Cohen and Afoakwah putting to bed any wing attack threats. Repton proceeded to battle away but, after giving needless free kicks away on the edge of the area, eventually conceded another goal to an exceptional free kick which would have been up for goal of the month on ‘Match of the Day.

A late goal for Repton showed that we were more than capable of competing with Twycross: a string of seven or eight passes saw Buckley carve a pass through defence for Bell to latch onto and slot home comfortably.
