Match Report:

When one considers that Trent have been together as a team for two years and this was only Repton’s second game, the boys should feel very proud of this result. The performance was certainly not flawless but there was enough for me to suggest that this team might do very well over the next few years.

We were 2 – 0 up at half time thanks to goals from Aaran Hibell and Owen Staley but the game was a little scrappy and Repton were far too careless with possession and gave the ball away needlessly at times. There was also a lack of width in attack which, at times, made it an unattractive game to watch but the determination and potential of this group of players more than made up for it.

Repton added four more goals in the second half through Will Buckley, Owen Staley (again) and two from Robbie Astin which the goalkeeper probably didn’t see, let alone try to save.

Every one of the players in this team did something to suggest they have considerable promise but Dominic Johnson-Kerr, in particular, showed a real willingness to listen to advice and try out his new skills and James Frost was, not surprisingly, a calm and useful presence at the back.

Overall this was a very encouraging start.          SJC
