Match Report:

With Goodacre being dismissed early on, in a similar fashion to Ricky Ponting in the ODI at the Rose-Bowl, Repton had to re-group and build a platform from which to post a good total.  A partnership of 30 between Hibell and Frost was formed before Hibell, playing slightly askew got a leading edge and was caught.  Two further wickets fell in short order leaving the home team on 54-4 in the thirteenth over.  Enter the gladiator in the form of Taft at number 6: he and Frost put on a 166 partnership until Taft was caught in the deep for a magnificent 111 (David Shepherd did not do his dance well enough!) in the 33rd over.  Frost continued to bat out the final overs to finish on his best innings' total of the season.

After a slightly wayward start to the Tibshelf innings, Frost teased the opposition's best batsmen (he having scored a century in the semi-final) to hit one in the air for Taft to take a good catch.  Three wickets fell in short order to leave the opposition tottering on 54-4 in the 12th over.  A recovery was made, but at a reduced tempo, for the batting side's total to progress to 103 for 4 in 23rd over. However two wickets fell to leave Tibshelf under pressure with six wickets down.  Within 7 overs the opposition's total had subsided to 117 all out, with a well-deserved hat-trick to Frost, aided by some unorthodox stumping by Goodacre.

A good team's performance, aided by Mr Afford's inspirational warm-up and on-the-spot advice, ensured that Goodacre received the Ashes Trophy from Mr Mike Stones, representing the Derbyshire County Cricket Club board.  Congratulations to the team on a well-deserved victory.
