Match Report:

In the end I was quite happy with the latest performance from this promising Repton team. Against another team that has been together for a couple of years and one that also included a few talented players from the year below, this was an encouraging performance. In the absence of Aaran Hibell in the middle of the pitch, James Shires played well in his place and Dominic Johnson-Kerr became an increasingly dangerous threat on the right wing. However, for most of the first half we struggled to pass the ball out of defence and seemed to panic whenever Solihull came close to our circle. We were fortunate to be level at half time, having only had the one successful Robbie Astin strike at goal. The boys were much calmer on the ball and were a much more organised defensive unit in the second half and it was against the run of play when the home team went ahead. Thankfully, our man of the match Owen Staley, playing at centre-forward, popped up to squeeze the ball over the line for a deserved equaliser. If I were to select a few areas in which we need to improve, it would be the willingness of the forwards and midfield to track back when the opposition have the ball and the need for all players to produce more left to right drags to avoid contact.
