Result:L 2-5
Match Report: This looked like being a good day for the home side who began brightly and managed to gain control of the midfield. Good work from Binns and Sharpe created a number of chances and Repton raced into a two goal lead as JOHNSON-KERR and TAFT were afforded time and space in the box and each picked his spot. As half-time approached the home side remained dominant but a freakish own goal, lobbed over the helpless Astin from twenty-five yards, gave Shewsbury a goal that they had barely threatened. What threat Shrewsbury did offer came principally from their big, pacy striker. In the first-half we marked him tightly and forced him away from the goal. In the second period we were guilty of leaving him one-on-one on three separate occasions, changing the face of the game completely. With each strike the Shrewsbury boys grew in confidence and gained sharpness around the pitch. Repton were unable to respond and succumbed with a disappointing lack of fight. Shrewsbury ran out deserved winners but Repton know that this was a match they could and probably should have won.
