Match Report:
The bare facts above do not make pretty reading for Repton supporters. On a pitch affording differing bounce from a good, or short, length, batsmen needed good technique, good concentration and good luck. Unfortunately the better players did not receive the last commodity; the rest of the team did not show the former skills. True, the Rugby bowlers showed how to bowl on an awkward wicket, but the home side's batting did not show the necessary application to post a defendable total. Cotter and Hibell bowled well to wrest the initiative from the opposition, and could have made further inroads if catches had been caught. They were not, and Rugby coasted to victory in a disappointingly brief game, in which Repton had not shown their true ability.
