Match Report:

With Goodacre and Hibell away on county duty this match had the potential of being a semi-final competition banana-skin.  However, Ballantyne-Rowland showed that he was a worthy replacement behind the stumps and Shires bowled a good opening spell 3-0-8-1.  Despite two catches going down and some near misses, Repton's fielding supported the accurate bowling well so that the opposition batsmen could not break the shackles.  Although 20 runs came off the last four overs Brookfield's total was well short of a competitive score.  Buckley bowled well again at the close of the innings conceding only seven runs off three overs and taking a wicket.

Taft went early playing onto his stumps, followed by Cartlidge in similar fashion a few overs later.  However, a base of 23 runs had been scored in five overs from which Frost and Cotter could work.  With few alarms and excursions they played sensibly and picked off the runs, finishing with an unbroken partnership of 47 at the start of the 14th over.

Next Thursday will be the final at Alvaston and Boulton CC (near Rolls Royce in Derby) against ? (details to follow)
