Match Report:

It is a rare treat for our players experience a match of such quality. It was always going to be a difficult game, which is exactly what we wanted. Forest, playing a mixture of U16 & U17 players, kept the ball extremely well as they probed for an opening in our tight defence. However, it is testament to our defensive abilities that the struggled to fashion clear-cut chances. When they did score, it was a moment of quality, and extreme pace that did for us. In the meantime we fashioned some reasonable openings of our own, largely through the pace and strength of Chilaka or the trickery of Gorman. The second Forest goal was another cracker; a screamer from 25 yeards.

The fact that Forest didn't add to their tally for the last hour of the match is to our great credit. They retained a strong side throughout and I was particularly pleased with the fact that we managed to introduce so many U16s without any discernible drop in quality. We didn't create too much, but we held our own in a high quality game. The levels of fitness and concentration required to compete on this stage were in evidence and we can take great heart from our performance this afternoon.
