Result: Codsall 0-2 Repton
Report:
This was, without a doubt, one of the most impressive performances of the year. We knew about the ability of the Codsall side having played them at Repton in the Michaelmas term. We started wonderfully well as Ndu Chilaka won the ball and slipped it through to SWANN who finished in real style. Chilaka then carved out another chance for Woodhead before another attack found the ball at the feet of SWANN who prodded home from six yards. It would be wrong to suggest that this was one-way traffic; the real story is that it was far from it. Codsall attacked with pace and skill but were thwarted time and again by the organised, committed defending of the Repton team.
The second half was much the same story as Codsall became frustrated at their lack of success in front of goal and we attacked swiftly on the counter. When called upon, Ali Carr had another assured game in goal and Moxham and Welch were absolutely superb in midfield. Scott Woodhead had his best game in months and Callum McIntosh, making his debut, made a lively contribution, hitting the post at one point. However, the man-of-the-match was Matt Sanderson who was nothing short of immense today and formed a great makeshift partnership with Chris Murrall.
This was another game where progress was made. The younger players are gaining in experience and learning what it take to play 1st XI football. A few players made considerable breakthroughs today and I look forward to seeing them develop further in the remaining matches.
