Match Report: With illness and injury depleting the squad somewhat, this was a great performance by a bare 11, who worked tirelessly throughout the game against spirited opposition. Watton marshalled the troops well from centre midfield and despite some nervy moments we always looked in control. Guest settled the nerves with an excellent strike midway through the first half and Fung latched onto one to make it 2-0 at the break. Guest was then the hero at the other end early in the second period, saving a drag flick on the line that Attwood had missed before Reineke tapped home from a penalty corner and Fung finished off a dazzling run from Watton. The endeavour and work ethic of the whole team impressed me enormously – Williams made some excellent runs from the back and Roseanu’s pace up the right was a constant threat. This finished off a solid first half of term and I look forward to further progress after the break and ultimately the tour to Dublin and the New Year.
