Match Report:
In our final match of the season an under-strength XI suffered its first defeat. Southall’s fine knock (115*) held the innings together for Trent who posted an imposing total of 197-8, with only Freedlander (5-24) and Cordingley (2-11 off 7 overs) posing a threat for the home team. Skipper Fearns, nursing a bruised thumb from his stint behind the stumps, had to retire hurt only 3 balls into our reply and after a breezy stand of 44 from Jones and Fox-Davies wickets fell at regular intervals. At 92-8 the match looked over but a spirited stand of 47 from Prutton and Butters enabled us to add a measure of respectability; Fearns bravely returned but when Butters was yorked by man of the match Southall the match was over.
