Match Report:

This was a much improved performance from Repton on a sloping pitch in blustery conditions. The football wasn't attractive, but we played as a team today with better communication and positioning. The back four were very strong and united, and CHAFFEY at right back had an excellent game with commitment and determination throughout. The first half was a scrappy affair, with St Bede's having the majority of the possession, although not really threatening MARTIN in the Repton goal. In the second half Repton were stronger and their attacking play had more purpose. WINFIELD, who came on at the start of the second half for AHMED, put a good cross in from the right and SWANN slotted home confidently to give Repton the lead.

Repton had chances to score again, and a second 'goal' by BLACKWOOD might have made it 2-0, had it not have been ruled offside; a slightly harsh decision was the feeling at the time. MCINTOSH worked hard all game and showed strength to hold the ball up well. St Bede's threatened to equalise on several occasions, the nearest clipping the crossbar from an excellent long range shot. St Bede's eventually did equalise, although we were caught a little short at the back having pushed forward for a corner that was cleared to their forward who finished well. Repton might have won the game at the end. A lovely ball through from SWANN was collected by WOODHEAD who admits he might have done better with his shot that went straight to their keeper.

All in all a good result away from home, but more importantly a much better team performance and a particularly good showing by the back four.
