Repton 169-8 (Rees-Joes 73, Hodges 21), Shrewsbury 168-6. Won by 1 run

Match Report:

Both innings followed a similar course, with Repton and Shrewsbury taking 24 and 25 overs respectively to reach 80 and over half of the runs coming in the final ten or eleven overs. Rees-Jones provided the impetus for Repton with an aggressive knock of 73 which included a 6 and twelve 4s. After tidy opening spells from Blackwood and Butters, Shiralagi and Cordingley joined forces to build up the pressure on the Salopians with some accurate bowling which was well-supported by intelligent field-placing and good fielding. When Shrewsbury took 21 runs off the 31st over they looked well placed to secure victory but Shiralagi and Blackwood returned to apply the brake and when Blackwood took a vital wicket with the fourth ball of the final over Shrewsbury needed 5 to win off 2 balls. With Shrewsbury looking for a third run to snatch a tie, a run out off the final ball secured victory by the narrowest of margins.
