Match Report:
Repton had to make a number of changes for this match following injury to some and promotion of others to the first XI. It was evident from the outset that we did not have a good shape, and that we hadn't played many matches together. Bradfield, however, were very well organised and played positive, flowing football. Despite this, Repton battled hard and tackled strongly. Disappointingly our efforts at winning the ball back were undone somewhat by giving the ball away a little too easily. Bradfield scored in open play after 11 minutes, and again after 30 minutes with the ball breaking luckily to their centre forward after a free kick. Repton looked strong in midfield with BLACKWOOD and CLARKE-DOWSON the highlights, the latter showing particular skill with the ball at his feet.

In the second half we continued to try hard, and WEBSTER dropped back to defence citing a lack of fitness. His height was beneficial, and CLARKE-DOWSON enjoyed his new role as centre forward. IKIN impressed as well with his effort and perseverance on the wing. Despite our hard work we had very few chances and lacked creativity in front of their goal. Bradfield scored again and we lost MURRALL to a late, but honest, tackle with a badly sprained right ankle. Despite deserving the win, the score was, perhaps, a little flattering to Bradfield since the skill levels of both teams were fairly equal.

The 2nd XI will need to work on their positions on the field and to their own strengths in each position. However, with the positive attitude and determination shown today they have the chance to make good progress this season.
