Unavailable - Will Byas and Jeremy Williams
Result: Worksop 8 - 1 Repton (Rees-Jones (F))
After a very pleasing victory in mid-week over the reigning National Champions today's performance was extremely poor. I had hoped that the absence of Will Byas would give others the chance to step forward and take the on-pitch lead but unfortunately nobody really did.
The first-half was not as one-sided as the scoreline might suggest as both sides had a similar number of chances and Repton actually won one more short corner than Worksop did. However, whilst the Repton forwards snatched at their chances the Worksop strikers were much more calm and clinical.
The second half, on the other hand, was extremely one-sided. Repton failed to string any number of passes together and regularly put themselves under pressure by playing sloppy passes and by having poor first touches. This week has highlighted that when things are going well this team can be excellent and when things don't quite go their way they can be awful. There is a week to go to address this otherwise the season will be over. It certainly won't be easy on Monday at the Midland Finals.
