Match Report:
Repton powered through to round two of the Boodles ISFA Cup with an impressive 5-0 victory over three times winners QEGS Blackburn. A nervous start by both teams resulted in quite a scrappy opening. It is fair to say that QEGS had a couple of decent chances during this period and were perhaps a little unlucky not to take the lead. However, it was Repton who made the breakthrough with a Blackburn o.g. after a free-kick was sent into the danger area by Sam Graham. Half-time arrived with the match relatively even and delicately poised.

The first 15 minutes of the second half changed the game completely. A fantastic run and centre from Ndu Chilaka saw Dan MOXHAM head his first 1st XI goal. This was followed three minutes later by a superb run and finish from CHILAKA and at 3-0 the game was as good as over. I was pleased with two things in this match; the clean sheet and the fact that we remained strong and positive until the final whistle. There was never any question of sitting back and when Byas centred the ball for Chilaka, only to hit a QEGS hand, a penalty was the only outcome. This was duly dispatched by Luke DUGGAN. The icing on the cake came when a Sam Graham corner was met powerfully by Andy EVANS for an unstoppable fifth.

This was a very strong second half performance. We were full value for the win, but Blackburn were not five goals worse and can consider themselves unlucky to be on the end of this scoreline. We took our chances extremely well today and defended with our usual tough resilience. If we can maintain these standards we should be a handful for any opposition team we face.
