Chellaston 2-3 Repton
Match Report:
Within 20 minutes of this game we were 2-0 down. Quite simply, we were dreadful and had Neil Jones to thank for keeping the score down. Chellaston were impressive and took full advantage of our sloppy play.
In the second half we were a different team. We attacked with more purpose and created several clear cut chances. However, the all-important first goal was proving elusive until Matt SANDERSON bundled home his first of the season. Three minutes later Luke DUGGAN levelled the game with an overhead kick. The game was heading for extra time when a free kick was awarded, quite rightly, for a petulant kick by their midfielder on Luke Duggan. The ultimate punishment was handed out by Sam GRAHAM who curled it into the top corner from 25 yards.
This was a strange game in many ways. Had we have come up just short it would have been bitterly disappointing after such a poor first half. However, the dig ourselves out of such a hole gives us more belief, in a way, than if we'd have won at a canter. We go to Latymer Upper this Thursday in good spirits and hope to replicate our second half performance (whilst leaving our first half display in Repton!).
