Team: Murrall, Ikin, Cosford, Graham, Sanderson, Ahmed, Eldred, Byas, Hodges, Hodson-Walker, Jacques, Fearns.
Result: 1st Trent, 2nd Repton, 3rd Nottm High, 4th Loughborough GS.
Match Report:
Game 1 - Repton 180-4, Nottm High School 60. Won by 120 runs
Tom Cosford's (36 ball) 64, and Eddie Ikin's 69 (including 6 sixes) meant that we were always ahead of the game. We had started the day brightly and a good bowling performance, sparked off by a great catch from Ikin in the 2nd over, restricted NHS to just 60 runs. Sanderson took 3 wickets with all bowlers making a great contribution.
Game 2 - Repton 80, Trent 81-6
Too many big shots, and a lack of application and willingness to grind out a score meant that Trent were always on top in this game. After reducing us to 37-9, Byas and Moore set about repairing some of the damage and managed to get us to 80 before Byas was out.
Ahmed reduced Trent to 15-3 but we were unable to maintain the intensity and despite Moore's figures of 3.3 overs, 2-8, Trent won with 12 balls left. A very disappointing performance.
Game 3 - Loughborough 116-6, Repton 118-5
In the hope that Nottm High School would do us a favour, we completed a professional win agaunst Loughborough. Eldred took 2 wickets and Byas saw us home with 21*, after Cosford started the innnings off with a good 30. It wasn't enough though as Trent overcame Notts High to leave us second in the group, with only the winner qualifying.
We are left to ponder what might have been after 10 overs of substandard batting in the second game. Our bowling and fielding was top class throughout the day.
