Match Report:

There were further great personal achievements this week on the athletics front, in spite of the fact that we struggle as teams to gain a good overall position against bigger schools than ourselves.  In the senior boys' competition the setting of a personal best was achieved by Armstrong (400m) and Fearn (400m).  Fearn also gave a very impressive performance in the 800m, clocking in just two seconds behind last season's best performance and gaining second place.  Armstrong (800m) also gave a creditable performance, as did Mehdi (1500m) and Twidle (TJ).  In the intermediate boys' competition, newcomer Priestley made his mark taking first place in the 400m and he ran a very impressive second leg in the 4 x 100m relay.   Perera (200m), Porter (800m), Brockway (800m & TJ)  and Walsh (TJ) all achieved a personal best and other creditable performances include Winfield (400m), Martin (1500m) and Perera (Javelin).  This was the first competition for the junior boys and they showed promise.  Clarke (100m & 200m), Staley (800m), Harrison (Javelin), Cohen (LJ) are among those who should be mentioned for their excellent achievements.

In the senior girls' competition, a personal best was achieved by Dunford (Shot) and Lakhani (Discus).  Newcomer Etherington (100m & HJ) demonstrated solid performances in her events.  In the intermediate girls' competition, a personal best was achieved by Sanderson (1500m) and other notable performances include Hobday (100M) and Louch (Hurdles).  Like the juniors boys, it was the junior girls' debut and they made a good start to their season.  Whitehouse (100m & LJ), Variava (800m), Beharell (Shot and Discus) and Perkins (HJ) are among those who should be commended for their achievements.

Well done to everybody.              LHB
