Garden girls beat all the other houses including the boys to win the Russell Cup Skills section. This involved getting a perfect score in the swiming pool command task, proving to be expert in the Emergency first aid and casualty evacuation and speedy in the construction task as well as working together fast and effectively in the circuit course. Zoe Dunn, Hannah Green, Varsha, Lucy and Amy all showed that Duke Of Edinburgh and CCF certainly do give you exactly the right training to survive by using your acquired skills. Thanks must go to Gary Lawrence for organising such an outstanding afternoon of team work and outdoor skills, but also for giving us the opportunity to laugh hysterically. Seeing all my top athletes on a raft paddling like mad and going nowhere as they screamed and laughed was the highlight of the afternoon. Jade's face was a picture as she yelled "paddle!" to her team mates. I thought they did really well on the assault course until I heard how fast School House had done it! But they showed true grit and determination and had a blast and Mrs Nield did admit that Garden girls were in fact by far the most entertaining on the water! Joie, Shiv, Rhanny, Maddie (who crossed the ropes in 2 seconds flat!), Jade (rower extraordinaire) and Georgia certainly tried their best and we are ready for next year (hoping to get the raft on the water in under 10 minutes!)
