Becky and Wiz victorious in Clubs championships

We are lucky to have so many girls in the House who are dedicated to the point of developing their skills and passions outside school as well as within.

On top of their commitments to the successful Repton indoor and outdoor Hockey teams, Becky Siebert (L6, German international) and Wiz Mumby (Wales U16 Captain) have been representing their Hockey Clubs in the National championships. The girls report below on what was a tremendously exciting weekend for them both..

Becky – DTV Hannover through to National Tournament.

The tournament this week was for the teams in my part of Germany –Lower Saxony. We (DTV Hannover) won all of our matches. As a result we have qualified to reach the National Finals in two weeks time. The tournament will be a bit like the one Repton won in Sheffield last week, with the winners of the Semi Finals going on to play in a Finals Tournament at a later date. This is called ‘German Final Round’ (Deutshe Endrunde), which will be in about 4 weeks.

The second game on Saturday was a very important one. We played a very good team, called Hannover 78. We normally lose against them. The score in the first half was 3-0 to them. We really had to win that game to become the winner of our region and to qualify to the next tournament.

In the second half, we felt really motivated by our coach and our parents on the side of the pitch. We actually scored 5 goals and I was able to score three of them! We won 5-3 in the end.

Wiz –Beeston into the National Final at Trent Arena on Sunday (12:30).

Wiz has been playing and training for Beeston H.C. while maintaining her commitments at school. It is super to see her tiring schedule have its rewards:

I had a great weekend with a brilliant team, who managed to score 21 goals during the tournament. The Semi-Final match was very exciting. It was 0-0 at Helf Time and 2-2 with 5 minutes to go. I got the winning goal with 2 minutes left and Horsham got a short-corner at the end of time but we saved it and therefore won!

Scores:

Beeston beat Clifton 7-1
Harleston 3-0
Wakefield 4-3
Surbiton 4-2
Semi Final Horsham 3-2
