Offered primarily to Oxbridge English applicants but open to all interested pupils, Mr McClary, Head of English, has been providing lessons in Medieval English.
The pupils firstly master the rudiments of Anglo-Saxon grammar before going on to read literature dating from before the Norman Conquest to Chaucer, looking at the way English has changed over about 800 years.
A sumptuous medieval feast using recipes translated from Middle English rounds off the course.
