Back to the 60’s!

Back to the 60’s!

The Mitre had a wonderful evening at the House Unisons last night – smiling all the way with their performance of “Welcome to the 60’s” from the hit musical Hairspray.

Dressed in bright colours and with the U6th sporting special wigs for the occasion, the House looked marvellous and showed great spirit and enthusiasm throughout their performance.

The adjudicator was keen to point out the excellent choreography and mentioned how much time must have been spent on perfecting this. He said the performance was very enjoyable and upbeat and once again the Mitre have done themselves proud!

The girls returned to the Mitre for a wonderful feast laid on by our outstanding Matron Margaret of “ice cream factory” and “chocolate fountain”. The House was also treated to a performance by the harmony group who sang “Angel of Music” ahead of the Harmony competition. There was also a resounding singing of “Happy Birthday” to Ellie our birthday girl.

A very big well done to Emily Burtwistle (Head of House) and Harriet Yeung (accompanist and Mitre music maestro) who worked so hard to make it a great evening and a noteworthy performance. Notably Harriet was one of only four pupil accompanists provided by Houses, most of the Houses used professional musicians from the music department, and Harriet more than held her own in front of a huge audience. Both girls received a big bunch of flowers and a warm round of applause from the House.
