For the fourth year running Freddie Knoller gave his annual lecture to an enthralled gathering of Upper Sixth Form students in the second of this year’s lecture series.
Now aged 88, Freddie described his personal experiences as a Jew struggling to survive in Nazi controlled Europe. The lecture covered his life as a normal Viennese family, through to his time in the French Resistance, working, with false papers, as a guide for German officers in Paris and finally his experiences of the Auschwitz camp.
Interest was high and an insightful question and answer period followed the lecture. The afternoon concluded with a very popular book signing.
Head Girl, Eleanor Holroyd (F), thanked Mr Knoller on behalf of the School.
