On Sunday 20th June Arabella Butters L6M and OR Phoebe Heath-Abbott (Mitre) completed the 10 km Race for Life in aid of Cancer Research UK. The sweltering heat of this very hot day did not seem to stop Arabella and Phoebe as they came in across the finish line, with Arabella finishing in a fantastic 1 hour and 11 minutes. We are all very proud of them both for taking the initiative and doing something different with a PW!
Race for life is the UK’s largest women only fund-raising event. To date, over 4.7 million women have raised over £327 million for Cancer Research UK’s life-saving work. Every pound raised in sponsorship or fundraising helps to fund the work of over 4,500 researchers, doctors and nurses dedicated to helping more people beat cancer. Since 1994, women of all ages across the UK have come together at these inspiring events to walk, jog or run 5km or 10km to help beat cancer. Race for Life is Cancer Research UK's most important event, with over 230 events taking place across the UK between May and July.
Some take part in celebration of surviving a cancer experience. Others take part in memory of a loved one or to give hope to a cancer-free future. But all of them share a common goal: to raise money for Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work to beat cancer
We hope to see the more Mitre girls taking part in this very important awareness raising event next year. Well done Arabella, it is wonderful to see you leading the way in vital events like this. To find out more about Race for Life please visit www.raceforlife.org
