Abbey's 'Weird Sisters'

Abbey's 'Weird Sisters'

Weeks of rehearsal came to a climax last week, with the tremendously tense and atmospheric production of School production of Macbeth. Among the many Abbey girls playing significant parts in the play was Charly Wright (Upper 6th) who was captivating in her subtle interpretation of Lady Macbeth. Indeed she was worryingly convincing as the scheming wife who descends into madness under the strain of her corruption!

The ‘Weird Sisters’, cleverly choreographed by our own Sarah Cottrerill (Upper 6th), featured prominently. Kate Benn (O Block), Alex Cartlidge, Sophie Crosse (L.6th), Phoebe Jones (A Block) and Freya Harcus (B Block), really threw themselves into their roles, with menacing and mysterious movements and carefully timed shared dialogue. At one point, Phoebe delivered her lines while held aloft by the other witches. Special mention must also be made of Brenda Adams (Upper 6th) who did their amazing make-up!

Simone Matthews (Upper 6th) featured in the banquet scene while Holly Harcus, and Amy Chatterton (O Block), were Assistant stage Manager. Cassie Thorpe (Upper 6th) and Kami Lakhani (L.6) performed on the haunting soundtrack to the play.
