Four of the team of six girls representing the School last week were Abbey girls. Captain, Sarah Cotterill reports on a great win...
After being a bit worried by the fact that the Worksop coach handed us each a detailed map – luckily none of us got lost on a tricky course. The 4.5 mile course around Worksop Golf Course was shorter than last year, but as the away team it was a challenge to judge how to pace ourselves; especially our little whiz-kid Phoebe Walters who was sprinting ahead!
Charly Wright defiantly managed to keep up, and was the first Abbey girl back, coming an amazing 3rd! Hannah Slater and Sophie Embley showed great courage and determination, helping each other all the way round on their first ever cross country race.
All of the girls performed admirably, making the overall result a win for the Repton Girl’s team.
After everyone was in, we all cheered the boys home, who had tough competition against a talented team, including an England runner. As he finished, steam was literally flowing of Repton Captain, Frank.
We really enjoyed the Worksop hot chocolate at the match tea.
(Sarah modestly neglects to report that she came 5th in the race).
