Repton teacher named as Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert

Mr James Wilton, teacher of English and Housemaster of New House at Repton School, has been selected as a Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert for 2017-18.

The role is one of just 6,000 across the globe and Experts are selected for excellence in teaching and learning. As a Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert, James’s role is to spark creativity amongst his pupils with thoughtful integration of Microsoft technologies to improve learning.

He will also help to inspire his colleagues to find new and innovative ways to incorporate 21st century learning into classrooms by sharing best practices and working together, both in-person and online, through the Microsoft Educator Community.

In October 2016, Repton School was selected as a Microsoft Showcase School (one of only 32 in the UK) for its excellence in transforming learning environments to deliver more personalised education to pupils, using mobile and cloud technology to better prepare them for success in the workplace.

Repton’s links with Microsoft have been further strengthened as the School is pleased to announce its status as a Microsoft Research Partner. This status is awarded to schools that participate in research that will better inform the development of Microsoft solutions to support the unique needs and educational content of the educator community.

Mr Wilton commented, "It is amazing how effective Microsoft's applications and hardware are in enhancing teaching and learning, and I am learning new and useful skills all the time. The quality of our pupils' work - especially in collaborative tasks - has been so high it has really been inspiring. I am very grateful that Microsoft have given me this opportunity to learn more and to spread that knowledge within Repton; I very much look forward to getting started."
